I recently posted about some great routes to take if your travels bring you to Indianapolis this fall, but if you’re interested in some leisure rides in other parts of the state, we’ve got a few here you might enjoy!
If your trip is planned for the fall, check out our Fall Leaf Cam and see when the leaves are changing in different areas of the state.

Columbus/Edinburgh/Brown County Leisure Ride
This is a great half-day ride that brings you through the softly rolling hills of south central Indiana. Be sure to stop off in Bloomington for some lunch at one of their great ethnic restaurants downtown and you can even do some outlet shopping in Edinburgh.

Crawfordsville/Turkey Run/Lafayette Leisure Ride
This ride brings you through the beautiful western Indiana countryside. Not only can you stop off for some lunch on Purdue’s campus, but you’ll drive right by two of Indiana’s great state parks, Turkey Run and Shades.

Tunnelton Tunnel - DiscoverIndiana.org
I know it’s not Halloween yet, but I love a good haunt. Some biker buddies told me about the Tunnelton Tunnel. The tunnel, built in 1857 on a CSX Railroad line, is over a mile long (pitch black, you’ll need a flashlight). It is located approximately three miles southeast of Tunnelton on River Road. Tunnelton is about 45 minutes from Brownstown - see Change of Color blog.
Here’s the Haunt: The night watchman, Henry Dixon, was murdered in the tunnel. And he doesn’t wait till Halloween to haunt, some have reported ghostly activity in the tunnel year-round. Get the in depth story here.
If you dare to go, be careful it’s still an active railroad!!

View from Skyline Drive
I recently met a few riders that gave me a great location to catch the fall color - Skyline Drive, Brownstown (about 1.5 hours south of Indianapolis). Skyline Drive is located in Jackson/Washington State Forest (Brownstown is just outside) and features five spectacular vistas. I’m told on a very clear day you can see Indianapolis.
So, have you been? Did you see Indy? (I’ve not.)

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is offering free admission for a three-day motorcycle test on the road course, July 1-3. According to redbullindianapolisgp.com, test riders will turn laps from 10 am to 6 pm Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Red Bull AMA US Rookies Cup riders will take to the track on Thursday from 10 am to 3:30 pm. By the way, when they say rookies, they don’t mean first time at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway or their first time competing. They mean KIDS. Kids from North and South America between the ages of 13 and 16. Being on a bike, going down the front stretch of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one thing, but to do it at 13 in an international competition? Red Bull is probalby the only thing keeping up with these kids.
